Project
Air Engine Manufacturing
A compressed-air-powered engine, machined and assembled to precision tolerances and tested running on shop air.

Overview
Machined and assembled a compressed-air-powered engine for EML2322L: an aluminum base, manifold, piston, wheel, and sheet-metal case, built to precision tolerances and revised through the course's ECN/MIR process.
Design Process
- Iterated sketches and drawings with the team for design for manufacturability (DFM) before cutting any metal
- Inspected parts against print to confirm every feature held to spec down to thousandths of an inch
Results
The finished engine ran cleanly on compressed air, wheel spinning freely under load.
What I Learned
Precision manufacturing is unforgiving. Hitting tight tolerances across milling, CNC, and sheet metal is what actually made the engine work.
